In this charming story, a young girl learns from her mother that it is not appearance that makes hands beautiful, but what they do, and the love that motivates the hands. The book is a celebration of the values of kindness, service, and respect for others and their work.

MY THOUGHTS
What Makes Hands Beautiful? is an inspiring and timely book that reveals the beauty in the work we do with our hands and highlights the dignity found in every occupation.
As a teenager, I admired Mr. Dave, the school janitor, who radiated happiness while mopping spills, even amidst the chaos of rambunctious kids. He greeted everyone with warmth and kindness.
Mr. Dave invited me and my mom to a church youth event, and when I saw his fancy car, I was amazed. He taught me not to judge a book by its cover and helped me appreciate my mom’s integrity and work ethic as a nanny.
What I Liked:
* The stunning illustrations.
* The diverse ways we use our hands.
* The book’s powerful premise.
* It inspires reflection on how hands can be used.
What Gave Me Pause:
* The book’s design felt mismatched to its rich content, though perhaps that was the author’s clever intention.
* The language was a bit formal, but parents can navigate this during reading.
* There was a small mix-up early in the text.
Key Takeaways:
* Don’t judge a book by its cover (literally).
* Hands may not appear beautiful, but their work is invaluable.
* Embrace people for who they are, not just their roles.
Recommendation:
Despite my critiques, this book is destined to inspire in classrooms, churches, homes, and libraries.
Many thanks to the author and TCBR for providing a copy for this review. All thoughts expressed are my own.
