Felix and Harry, two best friends, are super excited to go away for the summer to Camp Horizon, a sleepaway camp in the woods of New Hampshire. There they can bike, hike, and ride canoes on Lake Omigosh. But something mysterious lurks in the depths of the lake.

For many years, people have claimed to have spotted a mysterious creature drifting on the surface of Lake Omigosh. One day, when Felix and Harry decide to go canoeing, a bad storm arrives, putting the two in real danger. Who will come to their rescue when their canoe flips over and the boys are left stranded in the middle of the lake? Fuel your imagination with Adventures at Lake Omigosh.

MY THOUGHTS

Adventures at Lake Omigosh combines beautiful artwork with a diverse cast of characters to create a story that will both teach and entertain kids and parents alike.

Camp Horizon, located near Lake Omigosh, is a popular destination for kids, especially with the added excitement of a mysterious creature said to inhabit the lake. I particularly enjoyed the description of how Lake Omigosh got its name.

Best friends Felix and Harry are thrilled to be at Camp Horizon, where they can participate in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, including canoeing. Eager to have fun, the boys decide to go canoeing together. However, things take a turn when they realize they haven’t followed the camp’s canoeing rules and end up stranded on the lake.

What I Loved:
– The sparkle in the characters’ eyes
– The imaginative artwork that illustrates the story
– The representation of diverse characters

What I Would Have Liked:
Upon their safe return, I would have appreciated a discussion among the boys or with the camp counselors. However, this is something parents can still engage in with their children.

Key Takeaway:
Rules are in place for our safety.

Recommendation:
This book is a must-have for classrooms, parents, libraries, and churches.
