MY THOUGHTS
Little Red Driving Hood and the Three Repairs is the first mashup I’ve read and it was a delight. From the crisp and colorful illustrations to the story line it was a great new experience for me.
It was like reading a mystery and discovering the clues to figure out whodunit. I found myself mentally cataloging the modernizations and thinking, that was a great plot twist!
What I Liked
- Little Driving Hood’s willingness to learn and her helpful nature.
- Her persistence in the face of failures
- The inclusiveness. Mechanics are predominantly male and the storyline allows little girls to dream alongside little boys about becoming one when they grow up.
- Even when we have knowledge and experience, following directions is beneficial for success.
- Mindset is important. Had Little Red Driving Hood kept on down the road of comparison and stopped trying she would not have achieved success.
- This book is the perfect example of the scripture that tells us that God gives everyone a gift or talent at birth and it is expected to be used to glorify Him and earn us a living.
- This book will appeal to little girls and boys who like taking things apart to see how things work.
- It includes progressive problem solving which is helpful for the 5-10 age group
- Parents may or may not want to read the original stories with their child to discuss the modernizations.
